I'm Sarah Du, a sophomore in the Politics department. I started dancing at the age of 4 and studied Chinese traditional dance for 12 years. On campus, I'm a member of diSiac dance company and mostly do hip-hop! I've also dabbled in other dance genres with the dance department. Outside of dance, I'm interested in singing, entrepreneurship, and technology. The Peking Opera Immersion program was a unique opportunity for me to further my dance studies, do something I love, and meet some lovely people! In Shanghai, I learned a double sword dance from a scene in 'Farewell My Concubine' (with Teresa!) It was an amazing experience - the SPOC teachers were incredibly kind, talented, and dedicated, and it was an honor to learn from them. SPOC gave me a much greater appreciation for Peking Opera, and showed me how challenging, beautiful, and meaningful Peking Opera is.
